Oct. 20th... National Holiday?

Yes.
Today is an epic National Holiday!

Happy National Day on Writing!!

"In light of the significance of writing in our national life, to draw attention to the remarkable variety of writing we engage in, and to help writers from all walks of life recognize how important writing is to their lives, NCTE (National Council of Teachers of English) established October 20 as the National Day on Writing."

(check out www.ncte.org if you're interested to know more)

In celebration of the holiday, I am posting a very old poem.
It's from my I'm-going-to-publish-a-book-of-silly-poems-like-Shel Silverstein phase.
No judging! :)

(I was going to write something new for the occasion, but the creative juices congealed under pressure.)

My Bobblehead Doll

I have a cute bobblehead doll,
who stands on my dashboard so tall.

it's head moves all around
with each and every bound.

Just for fun, I hit the brake,
so I can sit and watch it shake.

From side to side and bottom to top,
it's head moves without a pop.

In the distance I see a red light.
My heart jumps at just the sight.

I slam on the break when the lights meets my door,
and my bobblehead head falls right to the floor.

I have no use for this bobblehead bit,
so I pick up my foot and I squish it!

You may need a reminder...
No judging!! ;)
haha

And now...
I'm throwing down the gauntlet..
I challenge you all to write something on behalf of
The National Day on Writing!

PS
It doesn't have to be elaborate.
It doesn't have to be a poem,
or even creative.
Send a text.
Write down what happened to day.
Write a letter.
Blog.
Just write. :)
